Het is heel leuk om veel vragen te krijgen, want zo laten jullie me weten dat jullie er ook mee bezig zijn.

Er zijn een aantal vragen die vaak terugkomen, dus ik zal ze even bundelen:

Wanneer vertrek je naar Duitsland?

Mijn afspraak is komende maandag (16/01)

Hoe lang blijf je daar?

Aangezien het mijn intake gesprek is, is het dus niet nodig dat ik daar blijf.

Wat gaan ze precies doen?

Ik weet niet exact hoe mijn consultatie er maandag zal uitzien. Ik heb wel mijn volledig medisch dossier vertaald naar het Engels en dat moest ik op voorhand bezorgen aan het ziekenhuis. Ik hoop dat ze de tijd gehad hebben om dat allemaal eens te overlopen. Ik vermoed dat ze hier en daar misschien wat vragen over zullen stellen, om een zo goed mogelijk beeld te krijgen van de afgelopen jaren en hoe ik de ziekte doorgemaakt heb. Ik denk ook dat we zullen overlopen welke medicatie en behandelingen ik al geprobeerd heb en welk effect dit had.

Verder zullen ze wellicht nieuwe testen en onderzoeken doen, welke? Dat weet ik niet.

Wat houdt de behandeling in?

Ook dit weet ik nog niet, dat hangt af van de resultaten van de testen die ze gaan doen. Er wordt voor elke patiënt een persoonlijk behandelplan opgesteld.

Ik weet natuurlijk wel in grote lijnen wat de opties zijn.

Men spreekt van een ongeveer 4-6 weken durende opname, waarbij de kans bestaat dat ik opnieuw infusen zal krijgen, supplementen, terwijl ook revalidatie oefeningen,... op de website staat ook dat ze hyperthermie toepassen, alsook ozon/oxygen therapie, lichttherapie, magnetisch veld therapie, heavy metal detox, het ondersteunen van het immuunsysteem, accupunctuur, biophoton therapie, etc. Met al deze laatste dingen heb ik geen ervaring.

Wat is het kostenplaatje?

Ik kreeg een zeer gedetailleerde prijslijst vooraf toegestuurd, hieruit blijkt dat mijn intake gesprek tot ongeveer 1.500€ kan kosten, zonder de kosten van de testen/onderzoeken.

De opname van 4-6 weken zal snel zo'n 20.000€ kosten, verblijfskosten niet inbegrepen.

Hiervan kan ik niets inbrengen in de verzekering dus is het volledig voor mij.

Wanneer start mijn behandeling?

In principe kan ik starten van zodra de resultaten van de testen gekend zijn en het behandelplan is opgesteld. Maar wanneer ik effectief kan starten is nog niet helemaal zeker. Ik moet eerst zien dat ik voldoende gespaard/ingezameld heb, want er is geen afbetalingsplan mogelijk, ook kan ik niet in het ziekenhuis zelf verblijven dus moet ik een verblijfsplaats zoeken. Helemaal alleen in Duitsland zitten voor 6 weken is ook niet vanzelfsprekend, maar mama en/of papa kunnen uiteraard ook niet zomaar 6 weken verlof nemen. Dus dat moeten we allemaal nog uitzoeken.

Lately I get more and more questions about going to Germany for my treatment. It shows that you all think of me, for which I am very grateful.

When are you going to Germany?

My first consultation is this Monday (16th Jan.)

How long do I need to stay?

Since it's my first appointment, it's not necessary for me to stay in the hospital.

What is it that they're going to do?

Monday is like an intake consultation. I'm not quite sure how it will go exactly, but I had to translate all my medical reports and send them to the clinic. I hope that they had time to read them through. I guess they will ask questions about it, about how the disease has developed and what treatments I've already tried and how that worked out for me. I'm also prepared for another round of testing, I have no idea what they're gonna want to test again, but I'm sure they will.

What kind of treatment will you get?

Again, that's something I am not sure about. It all depends on the results of their tests. I know they make an individual treatment plan for each patient, where you may need to stay there 4-6 weeks. Therapy may include another round of IV's, supplements, individual physiotherapy, magnetic field therapy, light therapy, ozon/oxygen therapy, hypothermia, biophoton therapy, supporting the immune system, heavy metal detoxing, acupuncture,...

I have no experience in all those last things, so I'm hopeful that there will be something that can help me heal.

How much does it costs?

I have received a price list in advance. It looks like my first appointment will be about 1.500€, testing costs not included.

For the treatment where I need to stay 4-6 weeks, it can be around 20.000€, accomodation costs not included. Nothing of all this is covered by insurance, so it's all on me.

When will I start this treatment?

Basically, I can start as soon as the results of the tests are in. But it's not that simple actually. First of all, I need to make sure I have the money, because there is no payment plan possible, so I have to pay everything in 1 time, right then and there. I can't stay at the hospital, so I need to find a place to stay for about 6 weeks. It's not easy to stay there all by myself, but it's also not easy for my parents to take 6 weeks off from work, so we'll have to figure that out as well.
